Receipt #76 to Caribbean Agroforestry Institute

Donation funds will be used to directly expand access to education by supporting four full scholarship placements in the Caribbean Agroforestry Institute’s 4-day Off-Grid Homesteading course. These scholarships ensure that motivated community members—particularly those who may not otherwise be able to afford tuition—can gain hands-on training in agroforestry, renewable energy, food security, and resilient off-grid living. Scholarship recipients become force multipliers: they bring practical skills back into their communities, contribute to shared projects, and help disseminate knowledge that strengthens local capacity for sustainable land stewardship, climate resilience, and self-reliance. In addition, donated funds will support the construction of a small-scale solar energy system for the community nursery, creating a tangible, long-term asset that aligns with the educational mission of the Institute. This micro solar system will provide clean, renewable power for irrigation controls, tools, lighting, and basic infrastructure, reducing operating costs while demonstrating real-world off-grid solutions in action. As a living teaching tool, the system will serve course participants, scholarship recipients, and the broader community, reinforcing practical renewable energy skills while ensuring the nursery operates in an environmentally responsible, resilient, and economically sustainable way.
