Apoya la Educación STEM en Puerto Rico con FIRST Robotics

Published on November 5, 2021 by Miray Ramy

More than 98% of Puerto Rico's public schools are Title 1 Schools.  This campaign will provide scholarships for 150 students from Puerto Rico’s most remote communities within public schools in the rural Cordillera Central.  It will allow students to build, code, and compete LEGO robots. Students will participate in STEM EXPOS and Tournaments and develop leadership skills as they become STEM Ambassadors – further inspiring their peers to pursue STEM clubs and programs.  It will provide for materials to the schools and support networks to ensure a sustainable robotics program in the schools of the participating students. It is a robust plan to create a successful and sustainable STEM learning opportunity and long-term robotics  program that will have the potential for continued impact in years to come.
Eureka has been a champion for kids and education since 2004.  We must come together to change the data that continues to demonstrate how much need our island has. According to Economic Storm by Stefan Trines, 42% of Puerto Ricans are on welfare and 89% of fourth graders and 95% of eighth graders scored below the Basic level in the National Assessment of Educational Progress Report.  In addition, only 50% of public-school students go to college and of that percentage, only 25% will earn a degree.  This campaign will have a profound impact on changing this landscape and Eureka can be trusted to be a good steward of funding for learning.  The company received again the “Platinum” rating from GuideStar, the highest level of recognition offered by the organization which is the world’s largest source of nonprofit information and is registered in Benevity and Charity Navigator. You can rest assured that an investment in Eureka is an investment in STEM Education in Puerto Rico.
