About

Our MISSION at Global Voyage is to provide a unique educational platform that empowers youth and young adults with skill sets that will meaningfully impact their future, and to provide humanitarian service for individuals and communities in need.

Global Voyage is a grant-based educational sailing and humanitarian aid organization that offers youth and young adults the opportunity to travel and learn how to operate a sailing vessel, while also serving the communities they visit by participating in humanitarian and environmental projects.

Participant Requirements

Motivation and desire are the primary requirements for our programs. Student Crew Members (SCMs) must have the motivation and ability to engage in a challenging and educational experience, and the desire to expand their knowledge base, meet and engage with new people and environments, and contribute.

Global Voyage is grant funded in order to eliminate financial barriers for individuals that typically would not be able to participate in similar tuition/for-profit based programs. SCMs are selected through an application and interview process thus having no bearing on personal financial ability.

SAILING EDUCATION

Our learning environment surpasses the norms of the traditional setting so that learning is more impactful and occurs authentically. We're on a sailing vessel! Our life-skills based education embeds learning in sciences, technology, engineering, arts, math (STEAM), history and more. Just the fundamentals alone of learning to sail incorporate physics, navigation and charting, oceanography, marine science, problem solving, mechanics, culinary arts, resource conservation, inter/intrapersonal skills and manual skills.

HUMANITARIAN AID

Giveback services are a major focus of our programs, which is why we seek to cultivate with our SCMs the importance of caring for and contributing to those in need in a highly impacting way to leave this world better than they found it. Our humanitarian projects involve the communities we visit and can include the distribution of emergency kits (such as water, food or medications), help restore natural habitats or build a structure for the community. SCMs work alongside staff and community members as we contribute to sustainable projects that are identified  by the communities we serve.

CULTURAL EXCHANGE

Exposure to diversity enables us to broaden our understanding and mindsets. We are intentionally pulling together SCMs and personnel with a variety of backgrounds and nationalities from around the world. Additionally, while traveling and giving service SCMs are able to integrate into the amazing cultures by experiencing new people, language, food, art, music, dance and cultural history.
