About

Huertos Rincon is a community group dedicated to Puerto Rican food self-reliance.  We believe in "home grown food on every table".  We started in Rincon, but serve the entire island of Puerto Rico.  

Our group has dozens of volunteers.  Here are a few of our top leadership

Marjory Wildcraft is the Primary Director. She is the author of “The Grow System: The Essential Guide to Modern Self-sufficiency from Growing Food to Making Medicine”. She is the founder of The Grow Network, which is an online community of over a half million people who grow their own food.

Stephanie Syson is a bio-dynamic farmer and consultant for soils and growing conditions. Stephanie is the owner of Biodynamic Botanicals. She has a lot of experience creating community projects and was the vision and drive behind the successful Basalt Public Food Forest. Stephanie currently farms in Quebrada, PR.

Dr. Teresa Morris is a Director. Teresa is a retired USDA soil scientist. She currently is the head gardener for the Mountain Rose Hotel in Puntas, PR.

Shannon Frances is the Event’s Organizer. Shannon has been operating a home-scale permaculture garden and small research center in Rincon since 2016. Shannon the founder of a grassroots network which connected farmers to the community during the lockdowns of 2020 to provide access to fresh food at that time.

Joelle Morales Director of Fund Raising and Philanthropic relations.

Jun Dam is our Finance and Entity Director. Jun is setting up the filing for the non-profit legal entity and working on fundraising for the project. Jun has an MBA from UC Irvine and is the founder of a blockchain De-fi startup.

Miriam Juan is a member of the Rincon City Council and our connection and guide for local Puerto Rican politics
