2025 was a big year for us!

As we move through 2025, we’re filled with gratitude for how much has already taken root at La Montaña. Thanks to your support, we’ve been able to host multiple wellness retreats and permaculture-based workshops, creating space for people to slow down, reconnect with the land, and learn regenerative ways of living. One major milestone this year was our very first natural building workshop, where community members of all ages came together to learn hands-on skills while shaping the land with care and creativity. Everything we do is donation based as accessibility is our top priority for our programs.
A significant portion of our energy and resources this year has gone toward building a roof system designed to harvest potable rainwater — a critical step for long-term resilience on the land. This project required extensive planning, specialized materials, skilled welding, and many collective work days. While the system is still in progress, the main structure is now complete and we are actively catching water — a huge and celebratory step forward.
On the ecological side, we planted over 100 trees to support biodiversity, soil health, shade, and future food security, and we built out a functioning compost system to close nutrient loops on the land. We’ve also begun reviving a campground area, constructing a shared kitchen, shower, and compost toilet system using primarily natural and locally sourced materials. This space will allow us to host more volunteers, students, and visitors in a way that aligns with our values of simplicity, sustainability, and stewardship.
Perhaps most inspiring of all has been the human energy that continues to shape La Montaña. In 2025 alone, we’ve welcomed over 30 long-term residents through our work-exchange program — people who have brought dedication, skills, care, and heart into every corner of this project. None of this would be possible without your belief in what we’re building together. We’re deeply grateful for how far we’ve come and are excited for what’s unfolding as this land continues to grow into a thriving hub for learning, healing, and community.
