Andanza Dance Scholarship

Andanza is a Puerto Rican non-profit organization that has a contemporary dance company and a dance school with a unique social component for underserved communities. Founded in 1998 by María “​Lolita” Villanúa, Executive and Artistic Director, in collaboration with María Teresa Robles, Director of Educational Programs, Andanza is the main contemporary dance company in Puerto Rico and one of the 10 most important cultural organizations in the Island. Andanza’s mission is to contribute to the development of dance, culture and society, and to the democratization of art through artistic creation, practice and education accessible to all.Thanks to its social, educational and creative work, Andanza is a unique cultural reference in Puerto Rico and an example of commitment to the transformation of society through the arts. 

In celebration of our 25th anniversary, we want to strengthen our Dance Scholarship program to guarantee that no student loses access to their dance training and education for economic reasons. This cultural investment, which has been active since 1999, has resulted in the artistic development of multiples students, who have later worked as professional dancers, teaches, choreographers and independent artists. The program not only helps to diminish social inequalities of cultural access, but it also contributes to the formation of future generations of dance.
